FC Helsingborg - In English

FC Helsingborg was officially formed in 2003. Earlier it had been a section inside the football club Högaborgs BK and had been merged with Ramlösa IBK. The roots of the club dates back to 1979 when the first floorball team was formed among a group of young men.

Today FCH is well-known around Sweden and the floorball world for many things. Below are listed a few short facts about our club and the sport of floorball.

• Floorball is one of the largest sports in Sweden with over 130 000 licensed players and more than 400 000 people playing regularly when schools and work related activities are included. The Swedish Floorball Federation was founded in 1981. Floorball is played indoors with plastic sticks and a plastic ball.

• FCH spent three seasons in div 1 (the second division) after being relegated in 1998. But in 2001/2002 FCH was back in the Elite League.

• There has always been a strong floorball culture in Helsingborg and the city is known for a strong tradition in many sports. In recent years FCH has emerged as the leading sport during the winter (indoor season) and the average attendance at the home Arena - Idrottens Hus - has risen from a few hundred in 2000/2001 to 1497 people (2005-2006).

• Several players from FCH has played for the Swedish national team: Leif Plume, Per Bergqvist, Marck Lundberg, Karl-Johan Nilsson, Magnus Hallbäck, Alexander Nede, Henrik Quist (representing Pixbo Wallenstam), Mattias Helgesson (representing Balrog), Mathias Andersson, Marcus Gullstrand and Peter Vilkman.

• Swedish football star Henrik Larsson played floorball before moving abroad. Notice that he played for both Viskan HBK (Högaborg) and Ramlösa IBK during his floorball career. Today he plays football for Helsingborgs IF, but he has been seen in the crowd at floorball games with FCH. When it was known that he was moving back to Sweden FCH received a lot of mails from scottish fans asking to see our games...

• In 2006 Helsingborg was one of the host cities for the World Floorball Championships and the opening game against Denmark was played at FCH:s home arena Idrottens Hus (that has a maximum capacity of 3300 people with extra seatings installed). Sweden won the WFC title after beating Finland at Globen arena in Stockholm. One of the players was Karl-Johan Nilsson, at the time representing FCH
